The other option would be to go into Safe mode repeatively press F8 on system startup. Clarification It's a desktop, and neither the keyboard or mouse are USB. I tried going into Safe Mode, but once the computer starts to boot, it doesn't get any input from the keyboard I can get into BIOS, but nothing beyond that.
I tried going to System Recovery, but again I get no input from the keyboard or mouse. Similarly, I can't check to see if the USB ports are working because when I get to the Windows login screen I can't login nothing from mouse or keyboard so I can't get to my desktop where I would be able to see if my flash drive is recognized Very frustrating.
Actually if you press F8 repeatively before Windows starts it should work, especially if it allows the key to get to bios. The only other option is to put your Windows disc in and Repair Windows Note repairing Windows will require your product key again.
Although static shocks are uncomfortable, if you got a "huge"" one, it could signal an electrical problem. Problem solved!! Its what Im using right now to type with on a different computer.
Something is wrong with the computer. I had a similar problem with a xp pro machine up to this morning, however, i was able to use the keyboard to set the computer to boot from cd. Not sure if i can help you if you can't use the keyboard to boot from cd. What OS are you running? Work inside the BIOS settings? This will tell us whether the problem is hardware or software related. You should be able to press a key or key combo to get you into BIOS setup. You have to be fast enough, or the OS will start to boot.

Since I couldn't get it to work, I'm creating an image on another computer to load onto this one.
